This July 25th the Women’s Mafia is proud to host a Designer Showcase for a mischievous pair of bespoke women’s wear designers: Alissa Smith and Alisha Trimble. You may remember Alisha Trimble’s knockout dress at the end of the Women’s Mafia fashion show and you have probably seen both of them in the press.

The event will be held from 3pm – 9pm on Saturday July 25th and will be open to the public, though we recommend you RSVP as fans of Ms. Smith and Ms. Trimble have been responding enthusiastically. The event will be held at Smith Boutique, at 28 Nugent Street in Southampton, Ms. Smith’s eponymous shop where you can try on creations from both designers and purchase limited edition pieces or commission a dress or outfit for a special occasion.

Want to join us but don’t have a place to stay? We would love to have you as our guest. The 25th is the same weekend we are hosting a super fun weekend at out Hamptons Share House, where we have reserved an amazing rate of $295, including amenities, food and drinks, for Women’s Mafia members. THE WOMEN’S MAFIA DESIGNER SHOWCASE: ALISSA SMITH & ALISHA TRIMBLE

Unforgettable Bespoke Fashions and Mischievous Ready to Wear

SOUTHAMPTON, NEW YORK, July 25th, 2009 – The inimitable social club, the Women’s Mafia, is thrilled to host a designer showcase for sought-after women’s wear designers Alissa Smith and Alisha Trimble at Smith Boutique. Smith and Trimble will present their unique brands of women’s wear to this exclusive New York Social Club and members of the public on Saturday July 25th. Both designers are known for their limited edition ready-to-wear pieces, their use of select vintage fabrics and their affordable custom-made services.

Alissa Smith began studying costume design at Emerson College in Boston, subsequently studying at the School of Fashion Design in Boston and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.  Her work is “very feminine, it’s a lot of vintage fabrics, but delicate ones,” says Smith, who also works with hand-dyed silk charmeuse and chiffon. “I’m very inspired by the 1930s and 1940s, with pastel colors, kind of dreamy.” Smith interned with Betsey Johnson while in college, and credits her as an influence.  Alissa opened her boutique, Smith, in 2006, and since has enjoyed a loyal following of local and celebrity clients.

Alisha Trimble is a fashion artist. She articulates vanguard style using fit, proportion, texture, layering, and color.  A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute, Ms Trimble’s designs have appeared in Nylon Japan, California Apparel News, LA Weekly, San Francisco Chronicle, Time Out New York, Swoon, Ambassador, and Avantoure magazines, and on the television series, So You Think You Can Dance.

“The benefit of combining custom-made & ready to wear, is the productions runs are small, so there’s hardly any waste.”  says Trimble.  “I often design intricate dresses, so that I can make use of leftover fabric instead of creating excessive waste, and I’ve been doing that since I started 5 years ago.”  With limited editions, Ms Trimble also avoids reducing prices, so you won’t find her items in sample sales.  The hand-finished dresses are intended to be timeless, and aren’t treated as throwaway merchandise just because the season is over.  With quality craftsmanship, and good taste, the dresses have lasting value.

Founded in 2005, the Women’s Mafia is a social club that is a cut above the rest. Women’s Mafia members throw their weight around a little and get their stilettos in the door of the best venues in New York, the Hamptons and in major cities around the country. Women’s Mafia members get special invitations to art, fashion, networking, charity and social events and receive exclusive deals at trunk shows and sample sales.
