Custo Barcelona moved into the main tent at Fashion Week this season and introduced “LOWXURY” – the new word the Spanish designer Custo Dalmau created to describe the most sophisticated line from his new Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
Everything in Dalmau’s collection was a statement piece, a mosaic of vibrant colors and patterns loaded with elaborate details. Flowing capes, asymmetric tops, puffy laced dresses, baggy jumpsuits and clever swimsuits in a palette of jades, sapphires, blacks and golds. The 1920’s flapper dress was reborn with a playful layered pattern and fabric mix and an opulent use of fringes. Many of the ladies’ outfits were sleeveless with artful chokers. Laced and cut-out details in combination with feathers, sequins and fringes were used on almost every piece in the show. This collection is certainly not made for wallflowers.
Men must be bold this Spring! Loud patterned blazers with matching patterned and shiny shorts and pants will guarantee to make an entrance.
