By Courtney Fortune,
It’s Fashion Week in Los Angeles and as the rain poured as if straight out of a Hollywood set on Tuesday night, I was dashing in little gold heels to my next event. Fashion fans were out in full force despite having to mingle in soggy faux fur, and each show was electric and well-stuffed. Here are the highlights of my night out…
Hailed by the LA Times as LAFW’s “come back kid” Louis Verdad debuted his Spring 2010 collection “Louver” at the Geffen Contemporary/MOCA, downtown. A departure from his Fall 2009 collection, Tuesday night’s show featured an array of crème and metallic frocks, pants, sheaths and accessories. Classic and sleek, “Louver” focused on thoughtful structure and cut, creating interesting but gentle, feminine shapes. It featured fitted jackets, nautical accents, sharp gold jewelry and amazing peep-toe booties which we saw a lot of on NY’s runways. LA-based and a signature of LAFW, Verdad reminds us that he knows how to match sophistication with modern female allure. I definitely would walk off (or flutter away) in the little jacket above.
