Jazz aficionados everywhere will have the opportunity to warm their hearts this spring with the smooth baritone voice of jazz legend Marion Cowings. Well known as the lyricist on the standards “For Ceora” and Miles Davis’ solo in “Freddie Freeloader,” listeners will experience Cowings’ rhythm and sounds that go beyond age, trends or style. Accompanied in his latest album release with pianist Kenny Barron, these jazz masters express impeccable collaborative musicianship. With these classic songs played faithfully to the composer’s intent, they will satisfy the hearts of audiences.

Barron is widely recognized as a world-class virtuoso, and band leader. Cowings is known for his work with singer Kim Kalesti and his collaboration with many jazz artists including Hank Jones on their compilations; this album will be Cowings’ debut as a solo artist.

Jazz singer Marion Cowings is a native New Yorker. His smooth baritone voice and considerable range have been delighting audiences around the world for decades. Mentored by the legendary Jon Hendricks, Cowings is a master of vocalese and singing technique. He has appeared at the Lincoln Center, Kennedy Center, Blue Note, Village Vanguard, as well as many prestigious jazz festivals and venues abroad. Currently Cowings headlines regularly at Smalls Jazz Club in the West Village and his sets are broadcast live to a faithful global audience.
