Women’s Mafia Style Expert Engie Hassan On Styling Priyanka Chopra

Exploits Fashion music Talent

The Women’s Mafia connected with stylist and fashion editor Engie Hassan of EngieStyle just before and after she styled the incandescently popular Miss-World-come-Bollywood-Star-Meets-Pop-Princess Priyanka Chopra for the launch party of her new video “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and a sneak peak of Priyanka in her charming new advertisement for the new Beats By Dre Pill XL.

Engie filled us in that her inspiration for Priyanka’s look at the star-studded fete on April 28th at the Tribeca Grand. I was going for a “Retro Hollywood Glamour meets Fun Fashion Flair” aesthetic shares Hassan, “Priyanka is definitely a trailblazer, as a Bollywood actress and crossover musician as well as a humanitarian, and I wanted her look to reflect that, hence the dazzling turquoise blue fringed Tamara Mellon dress offset with her natural yellow diamond earrings by Diamond Envy, her gold Tanzil Rab bracelet and her purple Louis Vuitton shoes. A classic updo and the perfect smokey eye was the ideal compliment.” Hassan added that Priyanka was “delightful” to work with and looked wonderful in many options.

We are proud to say that the Huffington Post lauded Priyanka’s look and Engie’s styling that evening. Congrats Engie!

Are you a Women’s Mafia member with great, big news to share? Get in touch with us! We have lots of requests but we accommodate as much as we can.

Charlotte Ronson Fall 2013

Events Fashion Fashion Week music Shopping & Acquisitions

By Marcy Clark with reporting by Miriam Miedler

On Friday February 8th Charlotte Ronson showed her newest collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at the Box presentation space in a mixed presentation / short runway format. Her designs included a mixture of leather jackets and short dresses. She managed to include some vibrant floral patterns without her garments losing any of their cool factor. Guests at her presentation seemed to appreciate her injection of bright colors into Fall. Ronson also embraced a cute boyish flavor with loose sweaters and comfortable leather or wool pants. Of course, Charlotte’s sister Samantha Ronson provided an epic soundtrack with great 60’s English rock hits that fit perfectly with the collection. This exciting New York Fashion Week presentation is Engie’s ode to the various genre’s of music that have made an impact in the fashion industry at large, and most inspired Engie’s styling eye. The live soundtrack for Fashion Rocks has been created in collaboration with Grammy nominated Producer/Remixer Jimmy Greco, whose credits include tracks for Beyonce, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Miley Cyrus.

Fashion Rocks, which was once known to be the title of the double-feature magazine received in September with all Conde Nast’s publications, was a full glossed editorial spread styled by Vogue Editors dedicated to the musical artists who were most inspiring fashion at that moment.

Engie, a proud alum of American Vogue and French Vogue, had the privilege of being a part of the editorial team for multiple issues and recounts this experience as one of her most challenging, character building and exciting.

Born and Raised in New York, Jimmy Greco is a Grammy Nominated producer, song writer, and remixer whose credits include Carlos Santana, Beyonce, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Train, Miley Cyrus, and more. This year he’ll be releasing his self titled album featuring some of today’s most talented vocalists. “This is a project I’ve wanted to do for many years, it will give me the opportunity to have a free creative landscape to showcase and honor some of the best artists I’ve had the great opportunity to collaborate with.” Writing and production is still on the way for this release scheduled to hit the web and streets July, 2013.

Grand Opening Party March 3rd Featuring Premiere Exhibition “Crystal Days”

12 West Willow Grove Ave. Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia 19118

By Marcy Clark

SUGAR, a guaranteed sweet spot for lovers of art, music, culture and design, is hosting a Grand Opening Event this Saturday March 3rd from 5-7pm. Featuring monthly exhibitions showcasing internationally recognized artists, Sugar embraces a relaxed “come and stay awhile” aesthetic, with a “fine” art collection, books, vintage clothing, Vynl Bar, a couple pinball machines, modern, vintage and mid-century finds from EAC and regular events showcasing extraordinary musicians and delicious local edibles.

Sugar is the dreamings of Elie-Anne Chevrier, formerly of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where she managed logistics for exhibitions for nearly 20 years. She is a collector, mid-century connoisseur and all-around treasure hunter highly regarded for her huntress ability, her Modern, Vintage, Mid-Century dealership, and her recent pop-up home store NOMAD.  Her first exhibit “Crystal Days,” curated with Timothy Buckwalter, features work by Timothy Buckwalter, Douglas Witmer, Michael MacFeat and Tami Seymour.

Elie-Anne shares about her vision for Sugar: “Folks really had fun at Nomad. They tended to stick around for a while and chat and seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves. Visitors were saying how they felt instantly at home and had the best conversations here and Sugar is expanding that conversation with Art and Music. I want guests to experience the art and be inspired by the current show, play our vynl music collection, live with our home designs and curios and then be able to choose some of these inspirations to take home. Our goal is to create a timeless ‘John Cage’ type experience.”

Sugar’s Grand Opening event will feature four artists on display for the “Crystal Days” exhibit during the month of March as well as music and refreshments:

“Multi-talented” – New York Times

“Explosive… crooning… furious bursts of tap dancing” – Notes from the Underground, T Magazine

Born on the Island of St. Croix, in the middle of his parents’ tour of the US Virgin Islands, this multi dimensional R&B singer, Composer, Producer and Tap Dancer began his career at an early age. Known for sultry and smooth vocals, groove-driven rhythms and an electric, dynamic stage presence, AC Lincoln has been traveling and performing with his family of acclaimed Jazz and R&B singers his whole life.

Raised in New York City, Alex or “AC” discovered at the age of 5 an affinity for moving his feet to the beat of a drum. After receiving a special gift of tap shoes from his family, this young impresario quickly became popular on the NYC tap scene sharing the stage with the original “hoofers” of the time and Tap legends such as Peg Leg Bates, Jimmy Slide, Savion Glover, Buster Brown and Henry Latang. With his definitive style and refined stage presence, AC was soon traveling the world playing festivals and concert halls all throughout his youth. He has headlined a Gala for the NAACP, the Caramoor Jazz Festival and top NY Venues such as The Jazz Standard, Smalls, The Bitter End, Rockwood Music Hall & The Cotton Club.

Currently you can find AC Lincoln captivating audiences with concerts produced by his own Entertainment label, Jive Life Ent. With his rich vocals and undeniably catchy energetic original songs, it is impossible to deny this force of creativity and natural innovation. With much in store for this year, including a full length EP “Mr. International” and an East & West Coast Tour, there is much to look forward to from this multi talented entertainer and producer.
